ADVANCED TASER® M18/M18L Technology Neuro-Muscular Incapacitation (NMI) The key technology to disable even the most aggressive subjects, NMI temporarily over-rides the command and control systems of the body to impair muscular control. This technology was previously referred to as Electrical Muscular Disruption (EMD) which is now even more effective than before and available nowhere else. Shaped Pulse™ Technology A sophisticated pulse wave that utilizes a high voltage leading edge to penetrate barriers such as clothing around the body followed by a lower voltage stimulation pulse to cause Neuro-Muscular Incapacitation. This new projectile charge allows even more current to enter the body through heavy layers of clothing. Air Cartridge A replaceable module that allows for the engagement of targets at ranges of up to 15 feet. It integrates a nitrogen propulsion system, two strands of high voltage insulated TASER® wire, bi-metal probes, and AFID serialization. The projectiles fire at an 8 degree angle for a spread of one foot for every 7 feet of range. Anti-Felon Identification (AFID) This system is designed to deter misuse through enhanced accountability. AFID includes bar-coded serialization of each cartridge and disperses up to 40 confetti-like ID tags upon activation. When investigating a crime scene law enforcement can trace the cartridge back to the original purchaser of the TASER® weapon.
